Antibiotic-associated diarrhea is a common complication of antibiotic therapy, defined as diarrhea that occurs in relation to antibiotic treatment.
AAD results from disruption of the normal microflora of the gut by antibiotics. If the use of probiotics for preventing AAD is considered, the ESPGHAN WG recommends using L. rhamnosus GG or S. boulardii.
