Good gut health for good overall health

Gut Health
A healthy diet and lifestyle encourage a healthy gut microbiome.
GOOD GUT HEALTH FOR GOOD OVERALL HEALTH
WHO recommends that adults consume at least 400 grams of vegetables and fruits in order to reach 25 grams of naturally occurring dietary fibre per day to nourish the billions of bacteria present in our gut.
Our dietary habits today do not always allow us to respect this recommendation or others like the consumption of fermented food and we know today that perturbations of microbial communities may increase predisposition to different intestinal discomforts.
Over 332 million people are estimated to be living with a digestive disorder in the European region, according to a report from United European Gastroenterology(2).
A healthy diet and lifestyle encourage a healthy gut microbiome
The bacteria and other micro-organisms in our gut are known as our gut microbiome. The bacteria help to break down food, turning it into nutrients your body can use.
Our gut microbiome impacts both our physical and mental health.
Many factors, including the foods we eat, can impact the type and balance of bacteria found in our gut.
Dysbiosis is characterized by a disruption to the microbiome resulting in an imbalance in the microbiota, changes in their functional composition and metabolic activities, or a shift in their local distribution(1).
The consumption of probiotics may restore the composition of the gut microbiome and introduce beneficial functions to gut microbial communities, resulting in amelioration of gut balance(3).
