Innovation with Postbiotics
Emerging evidence suggests that the beneficial effects attributed to probiotics may not solely arise from the presence of viable microbes themselves but that a significant portion of their therapeutic impact can be attributed to the metabolites they produce. The beneficial effects of postbiotics are attributed to those viable microbes that have been inactivated and/or the metabolites they produce.” Postbiotics are an emerging area for which there is still no consensus from both a scientific and regulatory standpoints.
Postbiotics may contain:
- Intact inanimate microbial cells,
- and/or microbial cell fragments/structures (cell walls, membranes, exopolysaccharides, cell-wall anchored proteins, pili, etc.),
- with or without metabolites/end products (organic acids, peptides, secreted proteins, enzymes, bacteriocins, etc) (ISAPP).
With this promising way for exploration and innovation, tht has developed a range of high-quality inanimate microorganisms (freeze-dried (lyophilized) strains) that will enable manufacturers to address specific postbiotic solutions for humans and pets.
A POSTBIOTIC is defined as :
preparation of inanimate microorganisms and/or their components that confers a health benefit on the host.(ISAPP)
Freeze-dried (lyophilized) heat-inactive strains
